Hendry wins at Natadola
Mike Hendry scooped the Fiji Sun Natadola Pro-Am at Natadola Bay yesterday with a stellar 70.
It’s the second victory for the talented New Zealander in a matter of days, who also took home the Air New Zealand Koru Club Pro-Am in Denarau over the weekend.
Hendry, who also won the New Zealand PGA Open earlier this year, said he was honored to play the championship at Natadola, where he was joined by 104 other participants.
Giving special thanks to Smugglers Cove Resort owner Mark Hinton, Hendry said he enjoyed the tournament and was looking forward to the Starwood Classic later this month.
Natadola Bay Golf Course general manager Jose Calleja said the participation was fabulous and attracted 30 overseas professionals.
“We would like to see more ladies participate but I’m sure we can generate more interest there.
“This is part of the golfing calendar and the first two weeks of June are very intensive and we’re very happy with Fiji Sun coming on board as our official naming sponsor for this Pro-Am, which is something we’d like to nurture and maintain,’’ Calleja said.
Four participants took part in the ladies division, which was won by renowned Nadi golfer Sulu Brooks.
