Michael Hendry Awarded NZ PGA Player of the Year

The PGA of New Zealand announced its 2012 Award winners at its Annual General Meeting last week.

The principal award – the NZ PGA Player of the Year – went to North Harbour professional Michael Hendry. His outstanding results included the 2012 NZ PGA Championship, which he has successfully defended in 2013, and finishing runner-up in the Australasian Tour’s Order of Merit.

Michael is currently in Japan preparing for the Tsuruya Open, his second event on the Japan Tour after getting his card last year. He was delighted to receive the “great news” on his award. Next week, he travels to China to play in the prestigious Volvo China Open at Binhai Lake, Tianjin, with total prize money of $NZ3.8 million on offer.
